eTwinning Project “Endangered/Minority Language Bridge: linking EU languages”

 Twelve Months – Many Voices: A Game-Powered                      Language Journey with MERRYBOX

This summer, our language camp turned into a vibrant lab of ideas, teamwork and fun – all focused on one inspiring mission: celebrating and saving the minority languages of Europe. Students and teachers joined forces to test the final product of our international project – a creative calendar and a unique set of online games with audio recordings in endangered and regional languages.

Our campers became true language detectives during the Mission: Save the Language activity. They listened to real voices speaking Hutsul, Crimean Tatar, Catalan, Basque, Maltese and more – and matched them with the correct English meaning using hints and clues. Not only did they train their ears, but they also explored the cultural backgrounds of the voices they heard. 

The excitement peaked during the Endangered Voices Challenge, a dynamic mix of online and offline tasks. Teams competed to unlock hidden words, identify phrases in minority languages, and win points by connecting language to region, culture and history. Digital collaboration met real-life teamwork – the perfect eTwinning blend!

In Echoes of the Missing Voices, learners reflected on what it feels like to hear a new, rare language for the first time. They created posters, recorded voice messages, and imagined a Europe where every language matters.

All of these activities were made possible thanks to the amazing eTwinning platform – a space where teachers and students across Europe connect, collaborate and create meaningful projects together. eTwinning gives young people the chance to learn beyond textbooks, use real tools, communicate across borders, and become active European citizens.

These game-based activities didn’t just bring fun – they deepened understanding, boosted curiosity, and empowered every participant to become a voice ambassador. Whether online or offline – learning never sounded this cool!
